In my HS years I found a natural affinity to biology, which led me to a BA nutrition program at Brooklyn College. In my final year my health was deteriorating; surprisingly, I found help from a chiropractor who gave me a diet—and it worked! It was his suggestion that I should go to Chiropractic school to learn about natural health and healing.
Turned out that I love doing this work; seeing people change right before my eyes is extremely gratifying. While in school I was exposed to various techniques, most impressive was SOT (Sacro Occipital Technique). The influence of the meninges, which surround the brain and spinal cord, holding in the cerebrospinal fluid and anchoring to the inside of the cranium down to the tailbone. That's why you can shake your head vigorously, yet the brain doesn't rattle around like a can of beans. This connective tissue has a profound effect on our posture and comfort. Any distortion here creates distortion in our spine.
Later in my career I was introduced to Network Spinal Analysis, a low-force system that can relieve meningeal tensions. And in 2006, my colleagues introduced me to Advanced Biostructural Correction (ABC)—this was even faster at specifically releasing the meninges by manually moving the entire spine. This is now my go-to technique.
I was fortunate to have studied with the founders of all three: Dr. Major DeJarnette for SOT, Dr. Donald Epstein for Network, and Dr. Jesse Jutkowitz for ABC.
